"Je-nous" or "Me-knee-we"

The title of this painting is a pun. "Je" in French means "I" in English, "nous" means "we". When pronounced, it sounds as "genou" which in French means "knee", the subject of this painting. We could therefore call it "Me-knee-we" in English.
I often like to catching part of reality, not the way TV does in which by not giving an overall picture leads us to think that what we see in the screen is general. By concentrating in a part, I try to enhace it, in this case the beauty of the knee. The vast black background brings leads our eyes onto the subject.
